If you have a love of the outdoors and you regularly go hiking, the chances are you may already have heard of Camelbaks. But if you haven’t you might want to find out more about buying one if you like the idea.
So what is a Camelbak? Put simply it is a type of backpack which also contains a hydration facility. This means you don’t have to struggle with taking off your backpack every time you want to have a drink. Neither do you have to try and reach round to grab a water bottle. Instead the hydration equipment is all tucked into the backpack you are carrying. A tube is attached to something known as a bite valve, and you use this valve to drink from the tube whenever you need it.
Some people might simply view this as a gimmick. But in fact it is hugely advantageous for anyone to buy who regularly goes out and about. This is because if you are involved in an activity which involves keeping your hands free for a lot of the time – such as cycling for example – you will find life much easier if you have a Camelbak instead of a regular rucksack or backpack.
Let’s say you have been cycling for a few miles and you need to have a drink. With a regular backpack you would need to find somewhere suitable to stop and take your backpack off to make this a possibility. You will probably find you then ache quite a bit when you get started again.
But with a Camelbak this won’t happen. You can simply drink from the tube you have close to hand and carry on pedalling the whole time. It is just as useful if you are hiking or doing anything else as well.
Some of these backpacks hold several litres of water or fluids in the backpack. This might sound as if it would be heavy, but since the bag is built to be comfortable you won’t notice the additional weight. And it will still be more comfortable than anything you could wear which doesn’t have dedicated space for water bottles.
Needless to say the Camelbak has been quite popular among outdoor types of people. And if you fall into that group you will probably find a good reason to buy one of these bags.
