If you are heading anywhere for a long period of time or you are backpacking abroad in one country or another, you will want to have the right kind of backpack to take with you.
But instead of buying a standard backpack why not think about buying a wheeled one instead? The benefits of this are obvious as it gives you more opportunity and freedom to carry it around with you.
Backpacks are often better than suitcases simply because you can put them on your back and walk around with both hands free. The size of some of the backpacks you can buy is actually quite surprising as well, but because they are carried on your back they are still quite comfortable to wear.
With this said though you may not want to carry it like this all the time. Let’s suppose you are about to catch a train and you know you will be sitting down for a while. Constantly taking the backpack on and off can be tiresome and difficult, especially if you don’t have someone there to help you.
So instead of doing that, you should think about using a backpack with wheels. This enables you to take off the backpack and wheel it around instead of wearing it. You obviously won’t want to do this all the time but you will be surprised by how much more versatile it is when you have this other option available to you. After all if you didn’t have wheels on it your only other option would be to carry it – and that could prove difficult and very heavy.
Most backpacks which have wheels also have some kind of telescopic handle, so you can easily wheel them about and virtually transform them into wheeled suitcases. Whenever you want to wear it on your back again, just push down the handle and pick it up to sling it over your shoulder. It is easy and very fast to transfer from one method to the other. The wheels are generally very small but robust as well, so they will last well and not get in the way when you are carrying it as a backpack.
As you can see there are distinct advantages to thinking about using this kind of backpack whenever you go abroad on a hiking trip or similar holiday. Could it work well for you?
